Mila — an air purification company — debuted two new products at CES 2024, both geared towards enhancing your indoor environment and improving the air you breathe. Products on display included the Mila Air 3 and Mila Halo, though the team also offered a look at Mila Insights, a new set of reports that give you an in-depth look at your air quality and how it can be improved.
The Mila Halo is the more intriguing of the two, as it’s both a humidifier and air purifier packed into a single unit. Along with outer panels that are fully customizable (allowing you to find a color or pattern that fits your home décor), it can detect when your room is unoccupied to turn off its water tank. It’s also powerful enough to eliminate aerosols from the inorganic solids found in tap water, along with bacteria and fungi, further improving your air quality.
By comparison, the Mila Air 3 is much more tame. It’s essentially an upgraded version of the existing Mila air purifier, offering a higher clean air delivery rate (CADR) to clean your home more effectively and a quieter fan. If you’re an Apple fan, you’ll be glad to know it also supports HomeKit.
Mila Insights was the last highlight of the CES 2024 showings. The Mila Insights report gives you a detailed printout of everything you need to know about your home’s air quality, including when your air quality reaches its peak — helping you identify which of your activities are impacting your home. It’ll even let you know the outdoor air quality, including when pollen, wildfire smoke, or other outdoor hazards are expected to threaten your indoor air.
Expect to learn more about pricing and release dates for these products later this year.
Narwal -- a brand known for crafting popular robot mops -- took the stage during CES 2024 to debut the Narwal Freo X Ultra and Narwal Freo X Plus. Billed as the "smartest, most powerful, and quietest vacuum mops in the world," Narwal is hoping they make a splash in the world of smart home automation. (It appears to have the specs to back up the claims.)
The Narwal Freo X Ultra is the most compelling of the duo, boasting an impressive 8,200 Pa of suction. That puts it near the top of the pack, competing with products like the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra (6,000 Pa) and the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni (8,000 Pa). And because it can compress the dust into its onboard dustbin, you'll only need to empty it every 60 days.
Baracoda may not be as well-known as other smart home brands like Wyze and iRobot, but the health tech company had one of the coolest product reveals at CES 2024 with the BMind Smart Mirror. Designed to improve your mental wellness by identifying your mood and managing stress with AI, the unique product walked away from the show with a 2024 CES Innovation Award.
BMind uses generative AI and natural language processing to determine the user's mood before suggesting various exercises like guided meditation or self-affirmations. Put simply, it'll try to determine your needs based on your voice, posture, and other observable factors. The end goal is to help improve your mood using a variety of exercises, lights, sounds, and visuals -- all of which are carried on board in the mirror.
Ikea already has a variety of air purifiers in its lineup, but it'll have one more joining the family next year. The upcoming Dajlien collection launches in January 2024 and features 19 items designed to improve your home fitness routines. This includes everything from yoga mats and training weights to air purifiers and portable Bluetooth speakers.
The Dajlien Air Purifier looks much like Ikea's existing Uppatvind Air Purifier, which features three fan speeds, a small footprint, and an affordable $35 price tag. But while the Uppatvind sports a simple white color scheme, the Dajlien version offers a bright yellow handle and eye-catching green frame. It doesn't seem to be quite as robust as the Starkvind Air Purifier (which syncs with the Ikea smartphone app), but it looks like a great alternative for shoppers on a budget.
