Kimberly-Clark purchases parts of steel mill property in Warren - WFMJ.com

The Kimberly-Clark company has purchased parts of a former steel mill property in the City of Warren.

According to Western Reserve Port Authority (WRPA) Director Anthony Trevena, the company purchased about 560 acres of the BDM Warren Steel property located at 999 Pine Avenue SE in Warren. Travena says he hopes more of the property is purchased in the future. Forged Parts

The sale was approved at an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors Thursday night.

Kimberly-Clark is the manufacturer of several iconic household products including Kleenex tissues, Huggies diapers, Scott toilet paper and much more. A complete list of their products can be found here.

Trevena says the company chose the Mahoning Valley for operations out of a plethora of options across the country. Trevena says he believes they chose the Valley due to its people, its ideal geographic location for shipping and its history with manufacturing jobs.

The facility will be the first of its kind in Ohio, according to Trevena.

While the details on what types of products they plan on making are still in the works, officials say the nearly $10 million investment will potentially create economic growth and employment opportunities for many people in the Warren.

In a statement released to media, the company expressed its excitement to work in Warren and states that it is currently working towards finalizing project plans.

Those plans are expected to be presented to the Board of Directors and approved sometime in 2024. The full statement can be read below.
